Choreography of Attention: Aesthetic and Political Experiments in Contemporary Dance Practices

Supervisors

Summary

This research seeks to understand how choreographers and dancers employ attention as a tool for noticing, questioning and stretching towards new perceptions, perspectives and possibilities. Drawing on the work of cultural theorist Jonathan Crary, it explores the paradoxical roles of attention as both a mechanism of power and a mode of resistance.
